december 9, 2008: whitney & robert

Just a short update--Whitney called and asked if I could take a few photos of her and Robert before we leave for Portland, and I was happy to oblige. It was great to get out of the house, which is full of boxes and things to be packed. AND now I have plenty of photos to edit upon arrival. :)

november 22, 2008: Michelle & Gabriel

This past Saturday I had the pleasure of shooting Michelle and Gabriel, who are one of the funniest, best-matched couples I have encountered! I am absolutely in love with them. They have a really easy, natural chemistry, and are very open to talking about all kinds of things, including Gabe's very interesting wedding plans. :)

november 16, 2008: Dominique

Just a few peeks at Dominique's portrait session from last Saturday. I'm really excited about these photos--I know I say that a lot, but each time I review the photos for editing after a session, I get excited about them! The sessions always look different, which brings a lot of variety to the overall feel of Blissed Out Photography--something I'm always striving for!

That's it for now--I have a paper to write about Seurat, of all people. Ah! I can't wait to graduate.

Also: hello to anyone from Portland that has dropped by! I've been doing my best to promote Blissed Out before we get there, so hopefully it's working a little. :)

Stephanie

PS-Dominique's session was my last "official" Huntsville-based Blissed Out session, but I do have a few more for friends that I'm going to hopefully be tackling before we jet out of the city. I just wanted to let anyone stopping by know, because the blog will continue to be updated between now and the middle of December.

november 15, 2008: Kourtney

Last Saturday I one of the most entertaining sessions with Kourtney. I always love portraiture sessions because you never know what type of personality the person you're going to be shooting will have, and I love finding out! Kourtney was fantastic, she was open and definitely excited about the shoot--so much so that she drove from Tennessee!

We visited a couple of nearby places that I haven't visited before, which was awesome as well!

Thanks, Kourtney, for the laughter-filled session! I had so much fun.

more Frances and Josh!

I just wanted to update with a few more sneak peeks for Frances and Josh, who were married on November 7 at Monte Sano Lodge in Huntsville, Alabama. This was by far one of the most beautiful weddings I have been to, as a photographer or a guest, and I'm still so pleased that I was asked to photograph it! Of course, I never could have accomplished half of the end result on my own, and I am extraordinarily grateful to Ashley, my wedding-shooting partner in crime.

I had to include this one--I think this is the largest group of people I've ever photographed in one frame! :)

I should have two or three more updates in the coming week or two. I had fantastic portraiture sessions this weekend, the first with Kourtney on Saturday, and the second with Dominique today, and I look forward to editing and publishing the photos from both!

Frances and Josh: 7 November 2008

Siiiiigh!

I'm not even sure I have words to describe the sheer beauty of the wedding I had the very fortunate experience of shooting yesterday. First of all, I want to thank my friend Ashley for teaming up with me--there is literally NO way I could have accomplished all that we did on my own! Our visions worked wonderfully together because they ran completely parallel--Ashley has all the different approaches to what I have, and together I think they images are going to produce very wonderful documentation of a truly gorgeous day for Frances and Josh.

This is just a very quick sneak peek--I'm going to really dive into editing these tonight/tomorrow, and continue for a few weeks. I'm really excited about them, I just wanted to give Frances something to look at since she's willing to be patient with me!

Also! I just realized I haven't made a very big announcement on here--I am currently 11 weeks, 6 days pregnant with our first baby! My husband and I are beyond thrilled. I definitely plan to continue Blissed Out Photography throughout the pregnancy and afterwards, as I can just carry the baby with me! But I wanted to share that with everyone.

Since I only have two Huntsville-based sessions left (both next weekend), the website is going to be somewhat shut down and have a link to the blog. I'm working on creating a brand-new design that will be clean, consistent, and clear (I love alliteration)--and will also take me a few weeks to get up and running! Everything should be in working order by the end of December.

November 2, 2008: T!

Today I had the most fantastic session with T., the daughter of Jennifer and Matt, whose engagement session I shot last month. I was thrilled when Jennifer re-booked me for this session--T. is the most adorable little girl!

These are just a sneak peek (they're the only ones I've had time to edit so far today), so I'll put up a few more in a few days after I've tackled them. I'm very excited to edit this session.

She was such a natural! She was so curious about the camera, which made it that much more interesting and fun for me.

This is part of a sari that I've had for years, I thought it might intrigue her. I was correct! :)

Lots of things are happening with Blissed Out! I'm getting ready to shut down Hunstville operations (last session is November 16) and transition everything to Portland, which is very daunting, but something I'm prepared to do. I have a new site ready to upload, but I'm waiting until the Huntsville sessions are finished and we're in Portland before putting it all on there. I'm also figuring out advertising ideas, since Portland is a much larger city and has a MUCH larger group of photographers, and also just how big I want to take Blissed Out. I don't think this will ever be my entire career, and I'll most likely stick with the format I have, but there are so many ideas to play around with that I can't help but wonder...

Thanks for stopping by! Like I said, I should have a few more photos up later in the week.

October 20 2008: Sheridan

Sheridan and I had to wait an extra weekend for her shoot--it was originally last weekend, and we had a miscommunication, but luckily I was able to work it in this weekend due to a cancellation! I'm so, so happy that I was able to work with her--Sheridan is a beautiful girl!

She told me she booked the shoot because her best friend wants her to be famous! So I think her friend plans to shop her photos around after I'm finished editing.

Thanks, Sheridan, for the fun shoot!

So far, I have had the greatest time with Blissed Out! I'm so thankful to everyone in Huntsville who has given me a chance and booked me for their portraiture sessions. I'm only going to be working in Huntsville through November 16, and I shoot Saturdays and Sundays ONLY, so if you're interested in a shoot, or know someone who is, make sure you contact me ASAP. October is almost finished, and my remaining November dates are almost booked up!

October 12 2008: Carolyn

Carolyn contacted me about taking a few photos for social networking websites and I was happy to comply! She was so much fun! I loved her open and playful attitude, and I think it's reflected in the photos.

She didn't want too much done to the photos, editing-wise, so it was a breeze! A few tweaks here and there, and the CD was in the mail the same day of the shoot!

oct 4 2008: jennifer & matt

Last Sunday I had my second engagement session with Jennifer and Matt. They're getting married in Jamaica next April! Jennifer contacted me about a month and a half ago inquiring about engagement photos, and I'm glad she did because I had a great time shooting them in downtown Huntsville.

I'm going to keep this short, since I have lots of editing to catch up on so I can have a clean slate for the shoots I have this weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

27 september 2008: jill & nick; K. & C.

Here are two sneak peeks from back-to-back sessions I had yesterday. While it was a lot of fun, I'm definitely not going to be able to handle doing that again for a while! I ended the day happy, but very tired.

The first shoot was with Jill & Nick, who are getting married in October. They were really sweet together, and you can tell they're getting more and more excited about being married.

The second was my first Blissed Out children's session, so I was super excited for this one! I had a great time, and I believe they did, also. They're beautiful children.

That's it for now, I have a paper to write. Yikes!

21 september: Reese

Today I finally had a shoot with Reese! I say finally because she and I have had to re-book this shoot two times prior to today because of bad weather. I'm in the throes of editing, but I wanted to put a few images up here that I'm really excited about:

A train came while we were on the railroad tracks! I've used these tracks once before and was never interrupted by a train, but Reese was walking down the tracks with her back towards the train, and I happened to look up from the camera to see it coming! We had plenty of time to get off, because it was far away, but it was somewhat scary nonetheless.

Maybe I'll stay away from the tracks for a while. ;)

Here's a photo of Reese right after we cleared the tracks! :

13 september 2008: krissy & jonathan

As I mentioned earlier, I helped Whitney with a wedding this past weekend. Here are a few of the photos I took! I'm pretty proud of them, I feel like I have grown significantly and may, one day, be able to approach weddings with confidence.

13 september 2008: the Dempseys

Friday was such a busy day for me! At 9:30am I had my first Blissed Out family session with the Dempseys. There were some slight weather concerns at first, because the sky was cloudy and it felt like rain, but the sun ended up coming out midway through and we went away from the shoot with a lot of great photos. Here are a few that are also on the site, and in a couple of days I'll add one or two more than aren't, just so you can see them.

Since I took the photos from the files on my site, they aren't at the highest resolution, so I'm not sure how they'll translate to everyone's computers. Hopefully alright! :)

Friday night Sean (my husband!) and I left with Whitney so I could help her with a wedding in Montevallo. I was really excited to do this because it's great practice for me. I've only edited a handful of the photos, but here's one that I like:

I only wish you could see the groom a little better!

This afternoon I'm making up a shoot that was rained out last weekend, so hopefully the weather will work for us this time. Weekends during the rest of September are pretty full, so all kinds of updates should be happening soon!

Oh, here's a photo Whitney took of Sean and I outside a gas station. I just love it because it's so sweeeeeeet, so I'm sharing. :)

michael & shannon: 1 september 2008

I had such a fun shoot on Monday! They're always fun, but Michael and Shannon, two best friends that I had the pleasure of shooting, were a riot. As soon a I got in the car they told me how cute I was, and then Michael said I looked like Belle from Beauty and the Beast! Ha! After that we proceeded to hit about five locations in an hour and a half, which was a first for me. Here are two photos from the shoot, just because I'm still in the middle of editing, but I wanted to go ahead and put them out here:

Michael:

Shannon:

Next time I update I'll probably throw in a few more.

In case you're curious, I typically edit the same photo in two or three different ways. I do a basic edit, which consists of adjusting small things (sometimes it's not even necessary if I like the photos straight out of the camera, like these two), and then the other two edits are with different textures and layers. I never know what the photos are being used for, so it's always fun for me (and I think, you guys!) to have different versions.
